NinetyEight.
Catch me if you can...In the last week, several people have told me I'd be a good catch... if I'd let someone catch me.
I hate the way that sounds. I'm not a fish. And is it so bad not to want to be caught? I'm having plenty of fun doing my own thing, doing things for myself, not having to worry about someone else's feelings.
Now, I'm not against finding someone. I'm just not going to settle. I don't want to be with someone who doesn't give me butterflies every time I think about them. I refuse to be with someone who doesn't make me see fireworks just from a kiss. I've settled before and all that did was get someone hurt.
I just want someone who is smart, funny, and someone I can talk to (who will understand the things I say). I don't want to have to explain everything, and I don't want to have to be like a mother to the person I'm seeing. I'm not saying I'm a genius, I just want someone who can keep up with me. And I don't play the jealousy game. Or any games for that matter. As far as I'm concerned, if you want me to be jealous over someone else, then go and be with that someone else.
Also, I refuse to be with someone that I can break. That sounds awful, and it is. But if you're not going to be even slightly challenging, and you can't keep my attention, why should I bother?
If you know what you want, go for it. Don't just settle for what's around.

Get, get, get, get, get over it. Get over it.If you're going to claim to be over something, then get over it. Stop talking about it. Stop bringing attention to it. Stop making a big deal about it. Just stop. If you keep going back to the same thing over and over again, and keep trying to prove to people that you are-in fact-over it, chances are you're not over it. Listening to the same story on an endless loop is exhausting. Every time we talk I feel like I'm stuck in a more dramatic, and not at all comical, version of Groundhog day. I can only say the same thing so many times, and unfortunately I'm not as much of a fan of your voice as you are.
I'm sick and tired of having to listen to 'Whoa is me' stories from people who feed on attention. It's disgusting. And I am not the person to cry to. I don't care for the dramatics, and I don't respond well to people who are needy. Maybe it's just me. Maybe because I don't spread my business around town I find it hard to understand why anyone else would. Maybe because I don't like too much attention myself, I cant imagine why other people would want to make things up to get extra attention put on themselves. Maybe because I'm normal, I can't understand why other people aren't.
I'm just kidding about that last part. But seriously. I'll never understand why people make up sob stories for attention. What's the point? It's too much work to lie. You have to remember too many things. And if you get caught you get in trouble. It's just not worth it.
Anyway, the point of this entire rant was that I'm done being friends with certain people. And by certain people, I mean you.

I have made a decision.I have decided to take care of myself.
To tend to my needs. To solve my problems. To deal with my issues.
I'm exhausted. Exhausted from listing to people complain about the most insignificant bullshit. I'm tired of dealing with people who are so selfish that even when you're screaming at the top of your lungs, they don't hear you. Tired of people making everything about themselves, even when they know you're suffering.
I'm over people comparing their problems to mine when they have no idea what I'm going through-or what anyone else is going through for that matter. I'm done listening to people that try to convince me that their current drama is more important than anything that could possibly be bothering me. I'm not going to fully be there for people who aren't even partially there for me.
I'm just done.
With that being said, I've decided to be happy. I'm not really a fan of feeling sad and it's not really working for me. I miss being myself and feeling good. Shedding the negativity, and unnecessary negative people around me, will help me find my way back to myself. I'm not sure where or when I got lost, but it's about time I'm found. Of course this wont happen over night, but from now on I'm going to do whatever I have to do to just be me.
From now on I'm going to live my life and I'm going to love my life. With all of the bumps and potholes that come along with it, I'm going to love it. With all of the obstacles and roadblocks that come along with it, I'm going to love it. With all of the ups and downs, the good the bad... I'm going to love it.
All of it.
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes. "

Oh, karma. It's not a funny thing as many people so often say. It's actually quite serious-whether you believe in it or not. People get what they deserve no matter how long it takes. It may take years, but eventually you'll get slapped in the face for all the wrong you've done.
Some people are so selfish. All they care about is themselves, and no matter how hard you try to make them see that the world-in fact-does not revolve around them, the less they see it. Another thing that I can hardly believe is how someone can change so drastically with the snap of a finger. How someone could be in love with someone so deeply one minute, and be a total stranger the next. How they could go from almost being married, to a complete savage.
And isn't it always easier to point the finger at someone else instead of owning up to the fact that you're the worthless person? That you're the abusive person? That you're the irresponcible person? That YOU'RE the BAD person? Of course it is. No one wants to admit that they're a horrible human being. No one wants other people to see all of the bad things they do behind everyone's back. They just want to play the victim, cry wolf, and play games that get people hurt.
Well, the truth is, you can't get away with everything forever. Eventually you're true colors show. Eventually, people see you for what you really are. And that's nothing. You're nothing. No one. When you look in the mirror, there's nothing there. All you see is all of the things you've lost because of your own poor choices and bad decisions.
I guess it actually is all about you in the end, because that's all you have left.
Now tell me, how does that feel?

I have this one friend who I've known a couple years now. Or at least a year. I'm not even sure. We hardly see eachother but whenever something comes up that we know the other would like, we call eachother and that's that. Like no time has passed at all.
It's odd, but if one of us has a problem, we automatically text eachother. The conversation will last all day, if not two days, and once its done, it's done.
We never make plans. Any time we see eachother it's a same day, spur of the moment type of thing, and I'm ok with it.
Those are the friendships you should hold on to.

I'm not going to pretend that I understand it... because I don't. I don't know what it's like, or what the church is like, or what they pray for.
Here is what I do know, after looking around a bit and asking questions:
1) Most people become Born-Agains because they've done something horrible in their life, and need to be 'saved'.
2) They are not unlike a cult. Once someone become a Born-Again, they spend all of their time either at church or doing other activities with other Born-Agains.
3) You cannot have a rational, inteligent conversation with them because all they do is preach. And no matter how hard you try, you're wrong.
4) They're lacking in the sense of humor department. Anything that is remotely 'unholy' is frowned upon and offensive.
5) They're very judgemental.
What I don't understand is that if you did do horrible things, and then you were 'saved', why would you so harshly judge another person? What makes you better than anyone else? Who are you that you think you're above anyone else? In my entire life, I've never done anything so horrible that I'd have to be 'saved'. I've always been a good person. I didn't have to be 'saved' to change my old ways. That in itself makes me a better person.
The other thing I don't think I'll ever understand is... if you were 'saved' to become a better person, why have you instead only become worse?

Is it really too hard to answer the person who is covering you, even though they know you're probably not sick at all while they're suffering with a cold, when they ask you a question that is far from complicated? The question had four words in it and it wasn't mean or intimidating or even rude.
On an entirely different note, I don't understand how you can be such a horribly shitty person and still get away with so much. I hate to see what happens when mommy doesn't do everything for you anymore.

Sometimes it doesn't matter what's wrong with your friends. It doesn't matter what happened or who hurt them. What matters is that you're there for them, and that you'll be ready to listen when they're ready to talk.
When you're really friends with someone, you can tell when they're having a bad day instantly. And if you're really good friends with someone, you can even tell by a text message. In those cases you have to just step back and let them have their space. They'll come around when they're ready.
When they are ready, just listen. Listen until they're done. Don't interrupt. Don't try to tell them what they should and shouldn't do. Just hear them out.
And once they're done talking, that's when you go grab the baseball bat and break the kneecaps of whoever started this whole thing. ;)

That's never what you want to hear when you feel like your world is falling down around you. It's not nearly as comforting as people think it is... Or at all for that matter. But, give it some time. Truer words have never been spoken.

Sometimes all people can talk about is themselves, and how great their lives are. Let them have that moment. It's probably the only time they're really as happy as they say they are.
I've found that the more someone talks something up, the less significance it has. You may think they're doing that to impress you, and in some cases they probably are, but more often than not they're doing it to make themselves feel better. They're doing it to make things seem better than they are. They're doing it because you probably believe them, and the more they lie, the more they believe it too.
You have to take those people with a grain of salt. Usually, whatever it is they're talking about isn't relevant to your life to begin with, so if you just listening can make them feel good, then let it.
Everyone deserves to be happy. And if you can bring even the slightest smile to someones face, do it.

- Telling someone you'll come see them in the hospital when they have heart surgery, and then just not showing up or calling to see if they're OK.
- Telling someone you have a birthday gift for them, but you forgot it at home... for nearly two months.
- Telling someone you'll come and hangout and meet a group of people that you're supposed to go on vacation with multiple times, but then lying multiple times and never showing up.
- Sending someone a long apology note (a week late) asking for forgiveness and saying how you're going to change and be a better friend, only to be a worse person afterwards.
- Completely changing who you are every time you get into a relationship.
- Pretending to be someone's friend.
